Memorial Day Celebrations Get Innovative Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Kids News Article

Mike's Super Stores will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 27 at 8am EST and will resume our normal weekly schedule.

People who say "Happy Memorial Day" have never served in the military. There is nothing happy about giving your life for your country. Memorial Day is the most solemn day we have as a country; the day we remember and honor the heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom.

They fought not only for our nation, but for their brothers and sisters in arms. Their courage, loyalty, and love for one another echos far beyond the battlefield.

We want to express our sincere appreciation for those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We are so grateful. All gave some. Some gave all.

We salute the men, women, and their families who sacrificed everything for our freedom.

Memorial Day encourages me not to give up on America because the warriors under each Cross and Star of David never quit.

Each warrior gave the last full measure of devotion.

What can we learn from their sacrifice?

The WW2 generation of Americans were special. It is difficult to imagine a farm boy from Alabama such as my Dad (only 23 years old with a wife little boy at home) fight in North Africa, Italy, and Germany for four years.

Back home in America everything was rationed, every resource went toward the war effort. These were real men and women with real dreams and real desires. Real blood flowed through their veins. They loved their families and enjoyed life as much as any of us. There was something different about them, however. They possessed a commitment to liberty that transcended personal safety and comfort.

Yes, there were liberals during WW2, but they were not hostile. It is heartbreaking to see the current generation of liberals disrespect the American flag and complain about their "pronouns." They have forgotten, never knew, or cared about the sacrifice others made for them to live in the greatest country in the world.
